children's book

I recently wrote and illustrated a children's picture book titled The Dust Bunnies and the Electric Broom, which chronicles one dust bunny community's first encounter with this unfamiliar machine. Set in an anonymous city apartment, the tale introduces a vivid cast of characters who work together to persevere in the face of a life-threatening foe. The book combines quirky and imaginative illustrations with color photographs to create a fantastical underworld that demands to be considered real. Two photographs of mine have been included in the May/June issue of the magazine published by the North American Congress on Latin America (NACLA). The issue, Empire's Apprentice, looks at Canada's involvement in the region with a skeptical eye. The images I contributed show Chilean discontent with Canadian mining company Barrick Gold. An excerpt of a series of my photographs has been published in Anamesa, an interdisciplinary journal focusing on the work of graduate students in New York City. The series explores the use of photography in burial niches in cemeteries in Calca, Cusco, Urcos and Lima, Peru. A selection of the series is included in my online portfolio.
